TRAINING IN ECE MAKERSPACE

PLEASE READ BEFORE PROCEEDING:
 
Students planning to use the ECE Makerspace machines must be trained before using them. This includes learning to laser cut, 3D print, and solder. Please utilize the training documentation and videos below to learn how to use the machines. Once you are ready, print the authorization checklist and demonstrate your understanding TO A TUTOR OR TA by completing the authorization assignments below in person (tutor signature required).
 
All students must review Lab Safety Presentation, General Safety Video, and General Lab Safety documents BEFORE reviewing laser cutting, 3D printing, or soldering. (Click buttons to access documents). 

AUTHORIZATION PROCEDURE

  1. If you did not review all of the tutorials above for the machine you intend on getting trained on, please do not proceed.  
  2. Download & Print: Authorization Form 
  3. Attend office hours or open lab hours, tell a tutor or TA in charge that you would like to get authorized.
  4. Laser Cutter (show them how you would cut this file): Token PDF
  5. 3D Printer (show them how you would print this file): Pyramid .STL 
  6. Soldering (they will ask you to go through soldering procedure & solder a strip of pins)
  7. Turn in your authorization sheet to your TA or Instructor 

 

OPEN LAB HOURS

Open lab hours are reserved for students taking courses inside the ECE Makerspace. Please use them to help you succeed in your courses. These lab hours are subject to change; please check them frequently.
